About Washington Judo Academy

Washington Judo Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 92-2862450) run entirely by dedicated volunteers, including professionally USA Judo-certified coaches. All membership fees are reinvested into the growth and development of our programs, supporting events, visits from world-class athletes, and preparing for future expansion.

We believe in elevating the Olympic sport of Judo at the grassroots level here in Kirkland by offering world-class training, hosting elite world-class Judokas, and empowering our students to promote Judo through cross-discipline training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling.

Looking Back

Last year, we launched our first Giving Tuesday campaign, raising approximately $20,000 through community contributions and employer matches. These funds are reserved to support our next major step forward.

This Year’s Goal

With 900% growth in the past two years, we’re planning for a larger, better training facility in 2025, prioritizing a location near our current space. This year, we aim to match last year’s success by raising an additional $20,000 to fund this move.

Why It Matters

Moving to a new facility is always a challenge. When we moved to our Kirkland location, volunteers covered over $25,000 out of pocket, including $10,000 for the security deposit and prepaid rent, $12,000 for Dollamur mats, and thousands more for construction materials and miscellaneous expenses. Your contributions this year will help ease the financial burden of our next move.
